Construction

  • Diamond panels: each face is built from hand-cut leather sections joined into a diamond, the seams piped so they stand proud of the surface and catch the light.
  • Five sizes: from a compact 14 in footrest up to a 24 in low seat or coffee-table substitute.
  • Full-grain goat leather: supple but hard-wearing, in a warm light brown that darkens and softens with use.
  • Zippered base: fill it, firm it up, or refill it years later.
  • Natural variation: the leather is hand-dyed, so tone shifts slightly between panels and from the photographs. That is the mark of the craft, not a defect.

Filled or unfilled

Choose Unfilled and it ships flat, which cuts freight cost substantially — fill it at home with shredded foam, fabric offcuts or old clothes. Loose polyfill and feathers are not recommended; they settle and lose shape. Choose Filled and it arrives ready to use.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. Blot spills straight away with a barely damp cloth and let it air-dry away from direct heat. Apply a neutral leather conditioner once or twice a year. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades the dye.

About the craft

Moroccan leather poufs are still made by hand in the souk workshops — skins tanned traditionally, panels cut by eye, seams closed with a needle rather than a machine. Karchel buys direct from the artisans who make them and ships from Morocco.
