Description
A round floor pouf hand-stitched in Morocco from full-grain camel leather, finished with an eight-pointed star embroidered by hand across the top panel in cream cotton thread. Alternating tan and brown panels are joined with raised whipstitch seams, giving the surface a two-tone depth that shifts as the light moves across it. At 21 x 12 in (53 x 30 cm) it works as a footrest, a low seat for guests, or a tray-top surface beside a sofa.

Construction
- Star embroidery: the eight-pointed geometric motif on the top panel is placed stitch by stitch in cream thread — no two are identical.
- Whipstitch seams: each panel edge is locked against the next with a raised cotton whipstitch that doubles as the pouf's decorative line work.
- Zippered base: lets you fill it, adjust the firmness, or top it up again years later.
- Natural variation: the leather is hand-dyed, so panel tones differ slightly from piece to piece and from the photographs. This is a characteristic of the craft, not a fault.
- Weight capacity: holds an adult comfortably once firmly filled.
Filled or unfilled
Choose Unfilled and the pouf ships flat, which cuts the shipping cost considerably — fill it at home with cotton offcuts, old textiles, or polyester fibrefill (roughly 12–15 lb of material). Choose Filled and it arrives ready to sit on, straight out of the box.
Care
Dust with a dry cloth. Wipe spills immediately with a barely damp cloth and let it air-dry away from direct heat. Treat with a neutral leather conditioner once or twice a year. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which will fade the dye.
About the craft
Moroccan leather poufs have been made the same way for generations: skins tanned in the traditional pits, panels cut by hand, then closed with a needle rather than a machine. Karchel buys direct from the artisans who make them and ships from Morocco.
