Handcraft Collection Handspun Moroccan Pom Pom Throw Blanket White with Grey Stripes, 100% Berber Wool, Handmade by Skilled Craftspeople, Sale price$255.00 USD

Description

A handspun Moroccan throw blanket in 100% Berber wool in grey and white tones, finished with pom poms along both short edges, woven by skilled craftspeople. Works as a sofa throw, a bed topper, or folded over an armchair.

Construction

  • Handspun wool: the yarn itself is spun by hand before weaving, which is what gives the blanket its slightly irregular, textured surface.
  • Pom pom trim: each pom pom is hand-tied onto the edge individually.
  • Natural variation: stripe width and pom pom spacing vary slightly blanket to blanket — a mark of handwork, not a flaw.

Care

Vacuum on a low suction setting or shake out loose dirt outdoors. Spot-clean spills straight away with cold water and a mild soap — avoid soaking wool, which can felt and shrink. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which will fade natural dyes over time.

About the craft

Karchel buys these pieces direct from weavers across Morocco, where wool is hand-spun and dyed, then set on a loom and woven or knotted entirely by hand. Small differences in tone, pattern spacing and fringe length between pieces are a mark of that process, not a defect.

How it compares

Measured against the two things people usually weigh a Moroccan textile against. Categories, not brands.

Rotate a rug occasionally so it wears evenly under foot traffic. Loose fibres rising to the surface in the first few weeks are normal on a new wool piece, not a fault.

How it is made

Knotted by hand, one row at a time

Short chapters on how this piece is woven, what it is made from and how it reaches you.

On the loom

White Wool Throw Blanket, handmade in Fes, Morocco

Knotted row by row, by hand

Each piece is built on an upright loom, one knot at a time, following a pattern carried in the weaver's memory rather than printed from a file. A large rug takes weeks — which is also why no two ever come out quite the same.

Materials

White Wool Throw Blanket, handmade in Fes, Morocco

Natural wool, naturally dyed

Wool is sheared, washed and spun before a single knot is tied, which is why a genuine hand-knotted piece feels dense and springy rather than flat. Colour depth shifts slightly across a piece — a mark of natural dye, not a printing error.

Ways to use it

It earns its place more than one way

It earns its place more than one way

A handwoven textile is worth the room it takes up because it rarely does only one job.

  • Underfoot, grounding an entryway, a living room or a bedside
  • Layered, a smaller flatweave kilim over a larger wool piece
  • On the wall, where a rug or bolster reads as a tapestry
  • On the sofa, adding pattern without redoing the room

Questions before you buy

Why does the colour vary from the photo?
Natural dye and hand-spun wool mean colour depth shifts a little piece to piece and even across a single rug. This is normal for handmade textiles, not a defect.
Will it shed?
Some loose fibres rising to the surface in the first few weeks is normal on a new wool piece and settles down with light use and vacuuming.
How do I clean it?
Vacuum on low suction or shake outdoors. Spot-clean spills immediately with cold water and mild soap — avoid soaking, which can felt wool.
How is it shipped?
Smaller pieces travel by parcel courier; larger rugs may ship by insured freight. Delivery estimates are shown at checkout.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery in its original condition.
