Description
An oval-shaped brass table lamp with a hand-pierced shade — hundreds of cut openings in a continuous spiral fretwork pattern that throw patterned light across the wall and ceiling once lit.
Construction
- Pierced brass shade: the shade is the light source's real design — lit, it throws patterned light rather than a flat glow.
- Solid brass base: a weighted stepped foot in the same polished finish as the shade.
About the piercing
Each opening in the pattern is cut individually rather than stamped as a repeating die, which is why the pierced areas do not line up in a perfectly mechanical grid when you look closely. That is a property of the manufacturing process, not a flaw.
Care
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid liquid polish or abrasive pads on the pierced sections — they catch in the openings and are difficult to fully remove.

Care
Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Polish occasionally with a brass-safe cleaner to slow natural tarnishing, or leave it — an aged patina is normal on hand-finished brass and many people prefer it.
Do not submerge or use abrasive cleaners on the pierced shade, which will scratch the hand-cut pattern.

Pierced by hand, one pattern at a time
Each shade starts as a flat sheet of brass, marked out and pierced by hand with a fine chisel — hundreds of small cuts per shade. Lit, the pattern throws its shadow across the room; unlit, it reads as pure metalwork.
Construction

Built from solid brass rather than plated metal, so the finish does not flake or wear through. Each piece is pre-wired for a standard US plug and takes a standard E26 bulb, which is not included.
